TIPS TO HELP HOMES SELL FASTER, and for more money!
De-Personalize & De-Clutter 101....
To De-personalize try this—pretend you’re moving out. Take all the things that make your home “your” personal sanctuary (e.g., family photos, religious decor and kitschy memorabilia), pack them up and put them in storage. Buyers want to visualize your house being their house—and it’s difficult for them to do that with all your personal items marking the territory as yours.
Playrooms and toys: It is easy for toys to start feeling like clutter. These can be easily managed with large wooden or wicker chests from Amazon, Target, At Home, or Homegoods. Pare down the essential toys you will be using until the move then place the remaining toys in boxes or plastic bins and store them. Potential buyers should not know that you immediately have children. Same idea for pets!
Personal Photos: Store them and put them away.
Closets: The rule for pantry and closets is that they should be 1/3 full so that the buyer can tell how big the space is in the closet. Make sure all items are off the floor! When you can see the floor all the way to the back of the wall, it makes the closet appear larger. Move or store all shoes and boxes on top shelf or move to a storage area in the home.
Small baskets: Wicker baskets from amazon, Homegoods, Target, etc. are an affordable way to help keep things organized and help clean up quickly when running out the door.
